welcome...

Welcome to the website for the Illinois Delta Chapter of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.  By nature, fraternities are rich in tradition, and surely Phi Kappa Psi is no exception.   We are rich in tradition on a national basis, and also on a local basis here at the University of Illinois.  One of the nation’s most prominent traditions, Homecoming, was founded by one of our brothers, C.F. Dab Williams in 1910.  And while this is certainly one of the most famous of all traditions, it is not the only one we are proud of.

Phi Kappa Psi has a tradition of excellence.  For over 100 years Phi Psi’s have kept their doors open in Champaign at 911 S. Fourth St.  During this time Phi Psi’s have made significant contributions to the University and to the nation.  A few of our more famous alumni are Jerry Colangelo, President of the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks, Johnny “Red” Kerr, former NBA star and Chicago Bull analyst, Prentice Marshall, former Federal Judge, Ron Bontemps, 1952 Olympic Gold Medal winner, Burt Ingwerson, former All-American Football player and coach of the University of Iowa and Al Tate, former All-American Football player, each of them spent a portion of their college years living in the chapter house.

The tradition of excellence carries over to academics where the chapter has maintained a grade point average higher than the campus-wide, all-men’s average for nearly five consecutive years.  Phi Psi’s have demonstrated excellence in athletics, academics, campus leadership and community involvement.  And, Phi Psi’s also have a tradition of having fun.  The chapter hosts several social events during the year, and this tradition also reaches into the alumni ranks where a broad social calendar is provided to bring our members together.   Each of these areas are covered in depth on this website and we encourage you to spend time reading through the information provided.

In the meantime, if you have come to this website to learn more about us, enjoy the information provided, especially if you are a student interested in rushing.  If you are a member of our chapter and just want to catch up on current events, you should be able to find everything you're looking for on the calendar to the left.

There are numerous links on these pages with several members email addresses to contact.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact any one of us.  It's always our pleasure to help out.

Midsemester...

The 2009 spring semester is halfway over now heading into spring break and so much has happened within the Illinois-Delta Chapter. Some of the brothers kicked off this semester early by moving in for work week where a group of brothers move into the house a week early before the semester begins to work on some "mini" house projects. These projects include renovating parts of the house as well as their new rooms they moved into this semester.  Our newly elected Spring 2009 Officers have also established some revised/updated responsibilities of what each officer should fulfill this semester and semesters to follow. We also had a representative from nationals come visit our chapter to come and explain some helpful tips on how we can be able to improve on our strengths and weaknesses of our chapter. Our recruitment chairs found some quality men this semester who are pledging to become brothers of Phi Kappa Psi. Our fraternity educators are doing a fine job so far educating these young men of what it really means to be a brother as well as our fraternity history. The external vice president has been working extremely hard on our main philanthropy event this year that is coming up at the end of April. The philanthropy event will be a 3 on 3 basketball tournament in which all proceeds will be donated to Coaches vs Cancer in order to help fund for research in the fight against cancer. Some of the brothers have also been involved in other philanthropy events and community/volunteer services such as Relay For Life which have been a success. As any Phi Psi would know we are sticking to our motto "The great joy of serving others" and will continue to do so for the rest of this semester. These are only a few highlights of what has happened so far in our chapter this semester. We hope to have a lot more the rest of the semester. Keep on a look out for updates.
